Stone Worktop Company – Granite Worktops
Granite worktops are made from granite, an igneous rock, which is formed over millions of years by molten magma crystallising within the earth. Granite comprises many different minerals and often contains fossilised shells, the combination of which give this stone its beautiful and varied colour range, from lovely pinks through to black.
Unlike quartz, granite worktops originate in quarries where huge slabs are transported to a sawing room for cutting and polishing so the finished article is a complete piece of stone with a high gloss finish as opposed to quartz, which is a composite material.
Once installed and treated, granite is extremely heat resistant and very tolerant of the usual splashes and spills in kitchens and bathrooms however it is slightly porous by the nature of its formation and regular sealing is necessary.
Granite presents timeless elegance in any application and with so many varieties to choose from, there is a worktop solution for any budget.
